Am I Qualified for Marketplace (ACA) Plans?

To help make health insurance more affordable, the federal government offers financial assistance, (also called “subsidies”) to qualified individuals and families to health care plans purchased through the Marketplace. To qualify for a subsidy under the Affordable Care Act, (ACA) you must:

  • Be between 100% and 400% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL)

  • Not be eligible for Medicaid, the Children’s health Insurance Program (CHIP), Medicare or Tricare through the armed services

  • Not have affordable access to a healthcare plan through an employer

There are two types of subsidies available.

  • Advanced Premium Tax Credit  (APTC) is for individuals whose income falls between the ranges of 100 - 400% of the FPL (Federal Poverty Level). Subsidies are paid directly to the health insurance plan for those who qualified.

  • Cost Sharing Reeducation (CSRs) is for individual who fall within the FPL range 100—250% . Those subsidies will help qualified individuals and families reduce their out-of-pocket cost.
